About this Role

Design team at ABACUS digital plays a central role in the way we build products to open up financial access to customers. As Designer, we tackle interaction and design challenges, and work on new ideas that will transform customer lives. We collaborate with developers, product managers, and user researchers in a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment. We make magic by crafting and shipping delightful experiences for our customers.

What you will do

• Think holistically about complex systems, empathize with customers, and understand business goals to create compelling and effective user experiences

• Build wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs based on our UI framework to take on difficult UX problems

• Partner with product managers, developers, UX researchers and communication designers to iterate and oversee the user experience of a product from conception until launch

• Maintain and improve a unified, cohesive set of design systems and guidelines, and advocate for scalable design solutions.

• Work closely with User Research to help synthesize and communicate research findings to inform business decisions and build an even greater understanding of and empathy for our customers.

What we look for

• 2+ years of experience in UX, UI, or related fields, building and shipping mobile applications at the level of whole features/products 

• UX and Interaction design experience with ability to define how an experience should behave based on understanding people's needs

• Visual design experience with proficiency in typography, desktop/mobile UI, color, layout, iconography and aesthetic sense

• Strong understanding and application of user-centered design methods and principles.

• Ability to strongly articulate your design work and rationale to your peers and cross-functional team.

• Highly proficient with design and prototyping tools (Figma, Illustrator, etc.)

• Excited about working in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment

• A portfolio showing your high quality, thoughtful UI and UX work

• Experience with user research methods such as card sorting and usability test is a plus

• Bachelor's degree in Design/HCI-related fields is preferred but not required.
